NBA 2K15 vs NBA Live 15: EA Sports Not Worried About Similar October 7 Release Date

EA Sports announced that they will release NBA Live 15 on October 7 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which means that the game will come out simultaneously with NBA 2K15 - the next iteration of the leading basketball video game.

Most analysts were surprised with EA Sports' decision to have the same release date as the highly-successful NBA 2K franchise, but NBA Live 15 executive producer Sean O'Brien is not worried about the competition.

"I don't think so," O'Brien said when asked if they made a wrong decision to release their game on October 7. "I think the reality of the situation is that we're still a work in progress."

O'Brien said in an interview that releasing the game on the same day as their competitor might not be a good idea, but he insisted that they are not competing with NBA 2K15 this year, admitting that NBA Live 15 is still a work in progress unlike the more-established NBA 2K series.

But while he admitted that they have a lot of things to do in order to have at least a chance of competing against NBA 2K15, O'Brien said that they won't back down, revealing that they have a plan in place to stir the public's awareness about the upcoming video game.

"We've got a lot of plans around trial, and how we can get a lot of people a hands on trial of the game," O'Brien said.

FanSided speculated that EA Sports might release a demo earlier than the usual. The developer previously released demo of their game two weeks before the scheduled release date.

O'Brien added that they are not expecting a lot this year, but they are going to make sure that people will try the game in hopes of surprising them with the progress that they made for this year's edition of the video game.

"My expectation isn't that just because you and I are having a conversation and an article is written that people will say, 'Wow! It looks like EA is doing some amazing stuff. I'm going to buy that game.' My hope is that people try the game. And I think that they'll be pleasantly surprised, and I think we'll definitely exceed expectation," O'Brien said.
