‘The Normal Heart’ Film Tags Critical Responses; Wins An Emmy Award And Two Critics’ Choice Television Awards

The HBO film adaptation "The Normal Heart" tags critical responses among its viewers and recently won an Emmy Award and two Critics' Choice Television Awards.

The Normal Heart is an American television drama film directed by Ryan Murphy and written by Larry Kramer. It is based on the 1985 play with the same title.  The film features critically acclaimed actors like Mark Ruffalo, Jonathan Groff, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Jim Parsons, Alfred Molina, Joe Mantello, and Julia Roberts.

The Normal Heart plot represents the upsurge of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City among gay people as seen through the eyes of writer-activist Ned Weeks, the founder of a prominent HIV advocacy group between 1981 and 1984. The film adaptation tags critical responses among viewers thus earning six Emmy Awards nominations, one of which was won by the film and also four Critics' Choice Television Award nominations, two of which were won by The Normal Heart film.

The Normal Heart debuted on HBO on May 25, 2014 and had an earlier theatrical screening at the Inside Out Film and Video Festival in Toronto on May 23. The film received critically strong acclaim responses from critics and audiences with much praise directed to its director.

The film won an Emmy Award for Outstanding television Movie.
