Pregnant Woman Shot And Killed In Car in New York; Unborn Child Dead

New York authorities are investigating the death of a pregnant woman who was found dead inside her car with multiple gunshot wounds outside her Bay Shore home in New York.  The victim's unborn child didn't survive as well.

Police officers of the Suffolk County police department reported that they responded to a call of gunshots at about forty minutes past 8 pm on Saturday and found the pregnant woman outside her home in Bay Shore on Long Island with multiple gunshot wounds.

The police identified the pregnant woman as Milagro G. Canjura, 31-year old that was discovered inside her 2011 Toyota Camry that was parked near her home in Stein Drive in Bay Shore per the Suffolk County Police Department's statement.

Due to her unresponsiveness when the authorities responded on her location, Milagro G. Canjura was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where she and her unborn child was pronounced dead.

As per Detective Lt. Kevin Beyrer's statement, he said that the officers and rescue personnel noticed that the female victim was pregnant and efforts were made to save the woman and her baby. However both were pronounced dead in the hospital.

The police didn't say how far along in her pregnancy when the pregnant woman was killed. And no suspects have been identified yet.

On Sunday, shattered glass still lined the victim's home driveway. According to the victim's neighbor, Margarita Hill, she said that she heard what she believed was to be three gunshots and initially thought it was a celebration. She also said that Milagro G. Canjura was friendly but mostly kept to herself.

A childhood friend of the killed pregnant woman, Mimi Ramirez said that she had no idea why someone would kill her friend. She even described the victim as happy and full of life and excited by the knowledge of becoming a mother.

On Sunday, on the victim's profile on Facebook, friends left mournful messages throughout the day. Her Facebook page included a sonogram picture of her baby and several photos of herself showing off her pregnant belly.

Currently, the police authorities are continuing their investigation regarding the murder of the pregnant woman in her car and killing the victim's unborn child.
