Natalie Morales Willie Geist Fired: NBC Officially Quells Rumors About Dismissing Hosts Of The Today Show

Natalie Morales Willie Geist fired - NBC has officially dismissed the rumors that co-hosts of The Today Show Natalie Morales and Willie Geist have been fired.

NBC News President Deborah Turness released a statement categorically denying the rumor that Natalie Morales and Willie Geist were fired.

"NBC's Today' has the best anchor team in morning television. The entire' Today' show anchor team--Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Natalie Morales, Willie Geist, Carson Daly, Tamron Hall, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb--are incredibly talented, valued and have our support," Turness said.

The story which claimed Natalie Morales and Willie Geist were fired was published on Wednesday by the Us Magazine. The magazine claimed to have received the tip from a source who works with NBC. The article, which has since gone viral on the Internet, claims that the co-hosts were looking to land gigs at CBC and ABC after their dismissal.

Although the story has been refuted, it may have gained grounds due to the recent firing of Jamie Horowitz from the show. Reports indicate that Turness fired Jamie Horowitz on Monday, after just three months as vice president and general manager of The Today Show.

In a previous statement released by Turness, she claimed Horowitz dismissal had been a mutual decision. But other sources say the former ESPN exec was fired because he leaked details of backstage disputes to the press.

Turness described the rumors that Natalie Morales and Willie Geist have been fired as completely wrong. "NBC wants to be absolutely clear: The rumors were wrong--period. This is the team we are committed to. And this is the team that our viewers turn to in the morning," her statement read.
