Kim Kardashian Finds Sexy Selfies Empowering — 'I Don't Think It's A Bad Thing'

Kim Kardashian wore a maternity Spanx under her black designer dress allegedly to conceal her cellulite and not her belly, as she graced San Francisco's Commonwealth Club of California, Tuesday Night.  In a series of photographs on Mail Online, she is shown wearing the curvy dress that conceals her bump

The revered 112-year-old club invited the reality TV star and fashion mogul to talk about her family, millennial culture, and objectification of women in media.

According to the Jakarta Post, this invitation sparked a minor controversy.  Members and listeners of the club's radio broadcast vehemently opposed her selection to speak at the program, as they deemed that Kardashian is not worthy to share the same spotlight with eminent figures like Franklin D. Roosevelt and Martin Luther King Jr.  A visit at the program's Facebook page will attest to this.

Kardashian managed to discuss given issues during her hour-long appearance in the presence of a star-struck audience mostly composed of youth and females.  In the simple questions thrown her way, courtesy of the audience and via Twitter feed, Kardashian gave less profound answers.

Judge LaDoris Cordell asked about her popularity. Kardashian said that she loves social media and credits it to her success. She said her career is based on openness and honesty.

It is worth noting that she has 94 million social media followers. She also attributed her popularity to "bikini selfies." She said she definitely overshares, but she is really engaged.

The judge also asked if it is realistic for young girls to be successful in a man's world.

Kardashian said, "There is this generation of young people — girls — who are beautiful but don't have a strong work ethic," she said. "People sometimes think that with looks things will be easy, but I just encourage people to put in the world," she added.

The New York Times said that the most meaningful questions might have come from Judge Cordell.  One of the tough questions Cordell asked is if her large number of selfies objectify her.

"Yes. I don't think it's a bad thing," she answered. She added that there is power in that and thinks she has the control to put out what she wants so even if she is objectifying herself, she feels good about it.

Kardashian also said the public had been "more supportive than we ever could have imagined" of Caitlyn Jenner, her transgender stepfather. Her family is attending group therapy and said everybody has their own way in accepting and supporting this.

As for the issue of protecting their biracial children from discrimination, she recalled how she refused stooping down to the level of an airline passenger who screamed racial slurs against her while traveling with her daughter.

Kardashian has a 2-year-old daughter with recording artist Kanye West and is four-months pregnant with their second child, a boy.
