Mexican Drug Lord Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman's Infamous Tunnel Prison Getaway Inspires Ridley Scott To Make A Movie — Leonardo DiCaprio To Star As The Czar of Sinaloa Cartel?

Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's escape from his maximum-security prison cell last July 11, 2015 caught not only Mexicans by surprise but also the whole world.

"El Chapo's" escape eclipsed the victory of his capture in February 2014 by the Mexican government, who have been searching for the czar of the Sinaloa cartel for about a decade since his first break out in another highly secured facility.

"El Chapo" was said to have escaped through a mile long tunnel outfitted with, electricity, ventilation system and even a motorcycle on rails. The drug lord's disappearance was a major blow and a monstrous embarrassment to the Mexican nationals' trust in their institutions and government.

Apparently, Mexico is incapable to prosecute and incarcerate, as per USA Today, an influential criminal such as "El Chapo." Its criminal justice arrangement is too powerless, and its top mobsters are above the law. In order to bring down a criminal of "El Chapo's" caliber would require an effective justice system that is fully functional and operational. Mexico lacks these and until it can create a solution, its government should push thru with extradition  for it to neutralize top drug traffickers and cut their ties from their criminal group.

Because of this high profile escape of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that director Ridley Scott will team up with FOX to create a movie adaptation of Don Winslow's novel with the title "The Cartel," which used "El Chapo" as the inspiration for his character Adan Berrera. The book, tells the fictional story of the Mexican drug lord's flight from prison - which coincidentally became a reality when "El Chapo" indeed broke out of his prison cell, as per Latina.

Deadline reported that Scott and Fox are extremely interested of getting Leonardo DiCaprio onboard to star not as "El Chapo," but as DEA Agent Art Keller who fights it out with Adan Berrera, the fictional Mexican cartel ruler.

If DiCaprio is being eyed for the character of Agent Keller, who then would best portray the famous "El Chapo?"

While the search for the czar of the Sinaloa cartel is ongoing, Ridley Scott was also going on a manhunt for an actor who would best portray Adan Berrera.

According to Latin Times, some Latino actors who could give justice to the role of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman would be: Edward James Olmos — played Selena's father in "Selena" biopic, "Machete" star Danny Trejo, Gael Garcia Bernal — played a Mexican drug leader, Onza, in "Casa de mi Padre?" (2012), Edgar Ramirez — portrayed a Blackbriar assassin named Paz in "The Bourne Ultimatum" and Guillermo Diaz who appears on "Scandal," among others.

Watch out for more details about Ridley Scott's "El Chapo" movie.
