Floyd Mayweather Jr. Upcoming Match Better Than The Manny Pacquiao Fight, Says Mayweather Sr; Andre Berto Wants To Make History

Floyd Mayweather Jr., who fought what many had called "battle of the century" with Manny Pacquiao, is slated to go fist-to-fist with Andre Berto. Berto, who has reportedly been criticized for being the underdog in the match, wanted to make a history.

Floyd Mayweather Sr. claims that his son's upcoming boxing fight with the two-time welterweight world champion is better compared to his match with the Filipino boxer.

"I think Berto will probably give a better fight than Pacquiao because didn't do nothing at all because he wanted to make up excuses," Mayweather Jr.'s dad told FightHype.com.

Mayweather Jr.'s decision of picking Berto was questioned by a lot of boxing enthusiasts. As per Bleacher Report, Berto is a solid player, but three — against Robert Guerrero, Victor Ortiz and Jesus Soto Karass — of his last six matches were lost last year.

Many have disparaged Berto, and he admitted he had a lot of haters, MLive reported. "So they're going to be around," the 31-year-old boxer said.

"I can tell you I'm looking forward to making history. Destiny's at play," Berto said, expressing his excitement over the fight despite the criticisms. He revealed that he's been training hard and pushing himself to take it to another level.

On the other hand, Mayweather Jr. is reportedly training more casual than he used to. Los Angeles Times learned that during his Wednesday media day, the 38-year-old was two hours late from his workout.

The undefeated five-division world champion also boxed in front of live TV cams for the first time. However, he kept the drill under two hours.

Statistically speaking, Berto has a record of 30 wins, 23 by knockouts, and 3 losses. Meanwhile, Mayweather Jr. has 48 wins, 26 by knockouts and 0 losses.

Berto said this is the first time that he will be fighting as an underdog, and it's motivating him. He is confident about his training, and his goal is going to make the people believe that he can do it.

Mayweather Jr., and Berto will face-off on Sept. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
