Finally, "Jeepers Creepers 3" is going into production in Vancouver in early 2016. After five years of silence, the iconic villain in the film franchise known as "The Creeper" will go hunting again for 23 days every 23rd spring for human body part and organs.
On Sept. 11, the long-in-the-works "Jeepers Creepers 3" has finally given a go signal to start its production following the announcement of Myriad Pictures to fund Victor Silva's cult horror movie series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Myriad is launching international sales at the Toronto International Film Festival through its newly-launched genre label, Scoundrel.
As "Jeepers Creepers 3" return for the 23-day feeding frenzy, here are 4 creepy scoops we've learned about the Creeper's comeback in the upcoming sequel.
1. "Jeepers Creepers" creative team is back!
The upcoming horror sequel will reunite the creative team behind the first two installments. Deadline revealed that writer-director Victor Salva is returning while Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope, the producer of the first two films, is coproducing along with Kirk Shaw and Surai Gohill's Odyssey Media as well as Stan Spry's The Cartel.
Coppola, Shaw and Spry will all serve as producers, and Myriad's Kirk D'Amico will executive produce.
2. "Jeepers Creepers 3" Cast
Jonathan Breck is returning as the limb-loving, winged Creeper and Brandon Smith as his pursuer, Sergeant Davis Tubbs, IGN teased. However, the leads for the movie have not been cast yet.
3. "Jeepers Creepers 3" Plot
Victor Salva, who both wrote and directed the first two films, promises fans for a "terrifying new chapter." Cinema Blend noted the sequel will follow Sergeant Tubbs as he joins a task force that aims to eliminate the mysterious and legendary creature. However, the Creeper will fight back and protect himself and his secret origins. And speaking of origins, Salva and the team are planning to delve into the history of the creature.
"What will go before cameras as 'Jeepers Creepers 3' is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe," Salva said in Myriad's announcement. "We are bringing back the Creeper's truck, and will be addressing the big questions about The Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does."
4. "Jeepers Creepers 3" Release Date
No release date has been announced yet, Screen Rant reported. But since the filming will begin early next year, the sequel might hit theaters sometime later that year of in early 2017.
