'Vampire Diaries’ Star Ian Somerhalder, Nikki Reed Host UN Event While Nine Dobrev Reveals ‘Bittersweet’ Ending For Elena Gilbert

"Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder and his wife, "Twilight" actress Nikki Reed, are just inseparable. Not only do they live together, they also do their conservationist missions together. And now, they are even hosting big events alongside each other.

On Sunday evening, Somerhalder and Reed hosted the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Champion of the Earth event at Cipriani restaurant in Manhattan.

Prior to the event, Nina Dobrev's ex-boyfriend took to Instagram to share a snap of him and his wife while rehearsing for their hosting gig. The "Vampire Diaries" star captioned the black and white photo: "We're here! I'm rehearsing with my beautiful wife @iamnikkireed to host the #UNEPChampions Gala..."

Following the event, Reed took the opportunity to share to her Instagram followers how "honored" she was to co-host the UNEP event.

She posted a snap of the stage while the event was ongoing and wrote a lengthy message of how unforgettable the experience was since she was surrounded by "world changing activists" and "visionaries" who shared their stories that night. Check out her full post below.

After the event, the lovers were seen strolling the streets of Manhattan still donning the attire they wore during the UNEP. Daily Mail reported that the twosome, who tied the knot in January after dating for six months, stopped for a couple of minutes to stare at the supermoon, an unusual phenomenon wherein the largest size of the lunar disk is visible from Earth.

Meanwhile, ahead of the October premiere of "Vampire Diaries" Season 7, Nina Dobrev recently opened up about rumors that she is set to return to the series though she departed the show after Season 6.

"That chapter is closed, sadly — bittersweet," Dobrev said when she was questioned if she's appearing on the show again, reported Cambio.

Despite her absence as Elena Gilbert from the series, Dobrev maintained that she is actually looking forward to seeing the new season of "TVD." "I can't wait to see what the new season will look like. I'll be watching. I'm very excited for my friends," she finished.

What an incredible honor it was to co-host the United Nations Environment Programme Champions of the Earth 2015 Award Gala. Listening to the stories that were told-trying to learn and absorb as much as I possibly could in every second during that four hour period was an unforgettable experience. To be surrounded by such visionaries and literal world changing activists who have been able to start something, or spark something- using whatever resources they have- fighting to come together to not only inspire but to educate the world was simply remarkable. Sure I was there to host, to use my voice in whatever capacity I could, but truly I was there to listen. Some subjects tackled surrounded issues I wasn't even aware existed, some surrounded issues I am so intensely passionate about. To the Black Mambas anti-poaching unit, you women rock my world. YOU are what the world needs- you are shining examples of what it means to use intelligence, fierce passion, and love- creating an unbreakable bond and promise to those animals and we will not let you down. We will stand with you. My mind is blown. I'll be dreaming about last night for the rest of my life and I can only imagine you all felt as inspired as I did. @UNEP #UNEPchampions
