Nike Kobe X Elite Commander: 5 Quick Facts About Bryant's Latest Kicks

Nike is adding new kicks to L.A. Lakers Kobe Bryant's 2015 sneakers collection — the Kobe X Elite Commander.

Here are five quick facts you should know about the NBA superstar's latest basketball kicks.

Fact 1: Nike Kobe X Elite Commander Design

One may assume — if you based it from the name "Elite Commander" — that the colorway would show the United States' color, which are red, white and blue, instead, it dons the color of black, blue and green.

The closest design it can be compared with from the previous Bryant shoe collection is the Kobe X Elite, which is currently on sale at the Nike store.

It was finished off by a design of the Presidential seal on the sneakers' tongue, together with the Mamba's seal.

Here's a glimpse of the Nike's upcoming kicks posted on the official Twitter account of @SneakersNews.

Fact 2: Nike Kobe X Elite Commander Inspiration

It's not really a what, but a who. Yes, Nike's latest pair of basketball shoes was inspired by no other than the President of the United States Barack Obama.

Nike's website stated that this collection signified the "President's influence on Kobe," as per The Hill.

The color scheme of the shoe was chosen to honor President Obama's School in Honolulu, Hawaii. According to the report of Complex, the President graduated from Punahou School Prep Academy in 1979.

Bryant and the President's friendship dated over half a decade ago, according to FoxSports. Although the President is known to be a supporter of Chicago Bulls, the Lakers' shooting guard has been supportive and complimentary not just of Obama's laws, but also his basketball skills.
