Pinterest Tweets Excitement Over 60 Million Buyable Pins To Hit Android Platform After Conquering iPhone, iPad

Pinterest, the famous visual discovery tool, dropped the good news to its users this week that it is now offering more than 60 million buyable pins on the Android platform. The company took to Twitter to share its excitement over this new venture.

On Tuesday, Pinterest dropped a couple of announcements via its official Twitter account. First, it teased users by tweeting: "Earlier this summer, we launched Pins on iPhone and iPad" and used the hashtag "#PinItBuyIt" to hint about its big announcement. 

An hour later, Pinterest officially made the announcement that its purchasable pins are now available on its app. The company wrote: "There 60M+ buyable Pins, so now when you discover products you love on Pinterest, you can buy them without leaving the app. #PinItBuyIt."

Then, Pinterest broke the good news to Android users when it tweeted: "Today we're excited to start rolling hem out to U.S. Pinners on #Android."

Pinterest also gave the link to its blog post about the buyable pins. In the post, the company explained the easy steps in purchasing the pins.

First, the company noted that users will know that the pins they are browsing are buyable because they come with a blue price. Buying the pin is then just as easy as simply tapping "Buy It" and this will directly lead the users to checkout. 

In the first time that a user purchases a pin, he or she will be asked to enter the pertinent info Pinterest needs, so the succeeding purchases would be hassle-free. 

Earlier in June, Pinterest unveiled its buyable pins to the public and it gave users the convenience of purchasing products without leaving its app.

Pinterest also promises in its blog post that new collections of of products are showcased everyday at the app's new Shop.

Brands that are going to be showcased in the brand new Shop include products from Bloomingdale's, Nordstrum, The Citizenry and Heist.

Some of the famous products that usually trend on Pinterest include leather leggings and blanket scarves. users can check out famous products by viewing the top trends of the app, as per TechCrunch

With these new features, Pinterest is expecting a boost on the engagement of its users to its products, and this will also help business sites since about two-thirds of Pinterest's content are from them. On average, the buyable pins can expand advertisers' reach by around 30 percent.

"As a catalogue of ideas, our mission isn't to just show you those ideas, but to help you bring them to life," said Pinterest spokesperson Jamie Favazza. 

Pinterest currently has approximately 100 million users, and it is valued at a whopping $11 billion.
