The Apple iPhone 7c is to be coming to stores in September of 2016 according to rumors.
GSM Arena reported that speculations on the possible successor to the iPhone 5c have been on and off ever since March of this year. Afterwards, an alleged iPhone 6c then showed up in a live image and at one point, it was rumored to be launched side by side with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus -- but we all know what happened.
Moreover, the info allegedly came from suppliers to Apple's main manufacturer, Foxconn. And if rumors were true, the 4-inch iPhone 7c will arrive in stores next September, as a build-up to the release of the proper iPhone 7.
Alongside that information, its alleged pricing is within the $400 to $500 price range, which of course is the price without a contract.
In a similar report by Seeking Alpha, the incoming phone is still referred to as the 6c. There's a great chance that it's the same phone because it has the same specs that include the 4-inch diagonal screen that Apple will introduce to replace the outdated iPhone 5s.
It seems that Apple is doing this move to add a dose of diversity with their smartphones and according to one poll, it was found out that about 20 percent of respondents even prefer the 4-inch screen size versus the bigger screens of current iPhones.
However, despite its rather compact sizing, the iPhone 7c or 6c may include the Apple Pay feature that could add significantly to iPhone revenue and profit.
Moreover, there are also reports that indicate that Apple wants its phone to be actually slimmer and said that future iPhones, which includes the 6c, will be in the 6 to 6.5 millimeter of thickness. This would be a very noticable size drop from the thickness of current generation of Apple phones.
As for the screen, apart from the speculated 4-inch size, there are rumors that the U.S. tech giant will finally make the switch from LCD to OLED screens.
Although not really a surprise, Learn Bonds also reported that the incoming iPhone 7c or 6c will definitely have faster connectivity, in addition to a faster processor.
According to one of Apple's suppliers, the radio frequency of future iPhones will go up significantly, which will boost cellular speeds.
For the processor, the iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus will definitely get the upcoming A10 chip, but for the 7c, expect it to be powered by the current A9 processor.
