‘Chucky 7’ [SPOILERS]: ‘Child’s Play’ Sequel To Be Released In 2017? Movie Director Don Mancini Drops Cryptic Updates On Twitter

"Chucky 7" is reportedly making a bloody comeback in 2017, three years after the cliffhanging finale of the franchise's sixth installment, "Curse of Chucky" in 2013. The announcement, though unconfirmed, was tweeted by "Child's Play" director Don Mancini.

Ever since Mancini tweeted last September that the demonic doll Chucky is making a comeback on the silverscreen in "Chucky 7," diehard horror movie fans have been excited for the upcoming sequel. In fact, they recently ignited an interesting debate on the film's IMDb message board regarding on "how Chucky will find Andy."

Following its first killing spree in 1988, Chucky doll has attracted a solid movie fanbase. He became a hit on many horror movie fans, which led him to become a household name.

And just recently, Mancini once again dropped some cryptic updates regarding "Chucky 7" on Twitter. Based on his latest tweet, Chucky will be haunting cinemas in 2017.

Mancini's tweet, however, was not the first that the director dropped subtle hints regarding the possibility of another "Child's Play" sequel. In fact, he had teased many avid Chucky fans last September when he posted an illustrative tweet, which hinted Chucky's comeback, as previously reported.

In an interview with Collider in June 2014, Mancini also confirmed that he is working on the seventh installment of the film franchise. And the sequel will reportedly follow the events of the 2013 film and the possibility of exploring more into the story of Chucky's twins, Glen and Glenda.

Meanwhile, as for the other exciting details on "Chucky 7," Latin Post has revealed almost a month ago what fans could expect from the film. The report include information regarding the plot of the sequel and its cast.

As for the "Chucky 7" plot, the storyline hinted the return of Chucky's wife Tiffany in the upcoming sequel. While casting rumors clued that Fiona Dolurif (Nica Pierce), Summer Howell (Alice), Jennifer Tilly (Tiffany) and Brad Dourif (Chucky) are reportedly coming back for the sequel.

In addition, Danielle Bisutti (Barbara Pierce), Brennan Elliott (Ian), Chantal Quesnelle (Sarah), A Martinez (Father Frank) and Maitland McConnell (Jill) are also reportedly joining the cast.

"Chucky returns after the events of Curse of Chucky to continue terrorizing his wheelchair-prone human daughter, Nica," the film's plot reads. "Meanwhile, the killer doll has some scores to settle with his old enemies, with the help of his former wife."

As for "Chucky 7" release date, nothing has been confirmed yet but with Mancini's tweets, it's safe to say that the upcoming sequel might premiere next year (2017).
