In recent reports, Prince made the headlines. His untimely death shocked the world and everyone around him. It was clear, no one saw it coming. According to TMZ, Prince allegedly suffered a drug overdose days before he passed away. Prince's people tried to keep the singer's hospital admission private when they explained that it was just a minor flu complication on Apr. 15, 2016. Perez Hilton adds that the cause of death has not yet been fully determined.
With news of his untimely death, former protégées of Prince remember his light on their music careers.
Shiela E. tweeted out "My heart is broken. There are no words. I love you!" on Twitter.
Shiela E. wouldn't be the drummer she is today if she hadn't met Prince at a concert in 1978. She was performing on stage with her dad. After the show, they met each other and told her that he and his bassist were into her. He vowed that the two of them would be working together. They eventually did, during the recording of Purple Rain. Prince took her under his wing and later became a successful artist in her own right.

Bangles lead singer Sussana Hoffs was covered by Prince after coming across the video of one of their early singles, titled "hero Takes a Fall" on MTV. He joined their performance on stage and created a unique mixtape for the band. Eventually they produced "Manic Monday." Hoffs recalled, ""I remember going in and singing that song and being on the mike and it was kind of like red light fever. I knew it was a Prince song and I wanted to do a great job on it," according to Song Facts.
