Oprah News: Iconic Star Launches First Mobile 'Candy Crush' Based Game Called ‘Bold Moves’

Oprah Winfrey's cable network, OWN is launching "Bold Moves," its first venture in the mobile game business. It is a free to play puzzle game similar to "Candy Crush" where players files in the missing letters into the game's tiles.

The letters to be filled come from mantras or sayings quoted by the former talk queen's shows accumulated through the years. To keep the game alive, one can purchase life savers for $.99 up to $19.99 dollars.

OWN is recovering slowly after a slow initial thrust into the cable network market. Its projections were really high because of Oprah's stature as networks owner and co-owner Discovery Communications.

However, Tyler Perry's shows, "Green Leaf" and "Queen Sugar, with high audience ratings for two nights in September has recently boosted the cable network's performance. In 2015, OWN actually gained 12 percent more subscribers in a market that saw Oxygen lose 36 percent.

The network is slowly transforming from the original marketing platform for a talk show into e-learning set-up, conducting classes and audio sessions with Deepak Chopra themes. Red, the digital interactive agency, is developing "Bold Moves" to bring the company into the mobile games market.

Players who unlock the puzzle using quotes from Carl Lentz, Maya Angelou and the like, may share the solutions to other game players working on the puzzle. "Bold Moves" is being presented with the theme "Live your best life" as an integral part of the game.

Red's president Donny Makower explains, "We wanted it] to feel like an extension of her, particularly as this is her first foray into the space." He might as well be addressing this to the target market of "Bold Moves", the same people following Oprah for years.

The huge mobile game industry has currently a volume of $99.6 million and is regularly increasing every year. Still, as a new player, Oprah's OWN and its "Bold Moves" game has a long way to go.
