Shailene Woodley May Face Prison Term For Participating In South Dakota Access Pipeline Protests

When "Divergent" star Shailene Woodley joined protesters against the Dakota Access pipeline project, she did not expect to be arrested and confronted with criminal charges. Her trial was postponed from January 25 to February 22, 2016 due to conflicting lawyers' schedule.

At the time she was arrested the actress welcomed the scene hoping that media will spread the news like wildfire and entice more protesters to join their cause. After her arrest, she now is in a precarious position to get jailed for a month and be fined for $1,500.

Her only complaint was why she was singled out as the one to be arrested when there were many other protesters with her during the rally. According to Daily Bruin, perhaps, it was because arresting one with her celebrity status will warn other protesters to back down from their activities.
