"Vikings" Season 4 Returns would have its greatest revelations aside from the rumors that Ivar the Boneless would be the next king of Kattegat. There were rumors that Lagertha would reveal that she's a lesbian for she has a new lover who is a shieldmaiden, Astrid.
The gorgeous Swedish actress Josefin Asplund would be playing the role of Astrid in "Vikings" Season 4. According to Movie News Guide, Astrid would be the new lover of Lagertha. Katheryn Winnick revealed that Lagertha and Astrid characters as a new lover would be interesting as Lagertha lost her trust with men.
As shown in the trailer of "Vikings" season 4B which was release earlier this year, Lagertha had a kissing scene with a new female character. Michael Hirts, creator of the show said that "Lagertha developed some trust issues with men and had terrible experiences with them, as a result she found new love to a new shieldmaiden, Astrid. However, this does not mean Lagertha is a lesbian."
On its previous episode of "Vikings", it showed Lagertha's fate with men. She was betrayed by her first husband who was a farmer and became the King of Kattegat, Ragnar Lothbrok. When Lagertha knew that Auslag begat Ragnar's son, she immediately left Kattegat together with her son, Bjorn. On the other hand, she met the King of Scandinavia, Earl Sigvard and got married. However, their relationship was abusive for Sigvard kept on beating her.
As previously confessed by Katheryn Winnick on an interview, Lagertha's character in "Vikings" Season 4 might not be able to trust men again as she had terrible experiences with them. Katheryn told Monster and Critics that the relationship of Lagertha and Astrid would be going deeper. "She did find a love with Astrid that other men have never been able to give her," she said.
