'Star Wars' Episode 8 Latest News And Updates: Obi-Wan Kenobi To Return In The Current Trilogy

Earlier this year, Ewan McGregor showed interest about coming back as Obi-Wan Kenobi. There have been anonymous reports that Lucasfilm is meeting up with Ewan for a new "Star Wars" trilogy that centers on the life of Obi-Wan. Moreover, it was said that the iconic character will appear on episode 8 of the current trilogy to reconnect a much greater story with what has been told in episode 7.

Rey's biological connection with Obi-wan is more logical than it is with the Skywalkers

While most people are convinced that Rey may be Luke's daughter, Huffington Post proposes an entirely different theory. According to the article, it is more logical to think that Obi-wan is Rey's grandfather than Luke's daughter. The source pointed out some pointers such as the similarity on Obi-Wan and Rey's accent, the Jedi mind trick that is Obi-wan's signature, and the sneaking abilities that the two characters have. All of these logical assumptions gives much more surprise to the story.

Obi-Wan on Episode VIII

Several reports have been proposing about the possibility of the Obi-Wan Star Wars spinoff. In a report by Inquisitr, McGregor said that he would be very interested to play as the iconic Obi-wan once again. Obi-Wan's connection with Rey will definitely make a huge plot twist. Thus, providing a much sensible reason for the producers to bring back the iconic character in episode 8.

However, despite his interest, Ewan is not entirely certain about how the idea would be carried out by the producers should the deal be made. The actor also did not confirmed nor deny the rumors about the negotiations happening between him and Lucasfilm.

For now, fans can only wait for further updates. Episode 8 of the current trilogy has been confirmed to be released on December 15, 2017. It's going to be a year-long wait, but "Star Wars" fans can forget about it for now and get ready for the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" which will launch in theaters on December 14 this year. Meanwhile, check out the latest report by Jobs & Hire about Luke Skywalker.
