‘Sense8’ Season 2 Premiere Date Announced; Netflix Schedules A Christmas Special For Fans

Recently, Netflix made some release date announcements for the "Sense8" fans all over the world. A Christmas Special is bound to be released on Dec. 23, just before the year comes to an end.

"Sense8" fans are highly anticipating for the second season of the Netflix's TV show. In a recent statement, "Sense8" Season 2 is scheduled for a premiere on May 5, 2017.

According to IGN, the second season will feature the main characters' "physical and mental" convergence while fleeing from Whispers (Terrence Mann). It will resume from where the "Sense8" season 1 ended. Season 2 will also highlight the struggles of the Sensates in looking after one another.

Before the "Sense8" Season 2 premiere, Netflix also announced that the TV show will debut a Christmas Special. Entertainment Weekly noted that the holiday special will focus on the characters' journey in "finding deeper connections, learning darker, more desperate secrets about one another and struggling to identify with more than just oneself."

The eight mentally-linked characters namely Capheus (Toby Onwumere), Kala (Tina Desai), Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre), Nomi (Jamie Clayton), Riley (Tuppence Middleton), Sun (Donna Bae), Will (Brian J. Smith), and Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) will be collaborating against Whisper (Terrence Mann).

The "Sense8" Christmas Special will take two hours running time, according to TV Line. Although the synopsis wasn't revealed much, it seemed like it will be a general summary of the TV show. It remains unclear how the special show will manage the end of the last season whether the characters will result into hiding or not.

Fans, however, are speculating that there will be obvious changes when the "Sense8" TV show returns to the screen. The show will recast Capheus with Toby Onwumere playing the role. Nevertheless, it was unclear if the season 2 will be reshot with Onwumere on it or not.

Netflix's "Sense8" Christmas Special will be aired on Dec. 23 at 12:01AM PT/3:01AM ET. Share your thoughts on the comment section!
