Stay Healthy In The Office: The Things You Need To Bring To Survive The Winter

Winter is here, and with the cold weather comes various illnesses ranging from the common cold to the flu. While your co-worker hacks and coughs in the next cubicle, there are ways to prevent getting sick at work, simply by stashing a few items that will help you stay healthy at this time of year.

Here are a few things that you can take to the office to ensure your well-being and your co-workers’ health this winter.

Disposable face mask

Consider bringing a few with you to the office if you happen to have colds or cough. A box of 50 disposable face masks is very affordable at Amazon ($3.60) that you won’t feel too bad if your co-workers ask you for one or two pieces.

Portable hand warmers

If you’re having a hard time typing due to cold hands, then this gadget is made for you. Portable hand warmers of all shapes are available on Amazon, and most can be charged via USB chargers.

Hand sanitizer, 70% rubbing alcohol or alcohol wipes

Germs that can make you ill can be found everywhere in the office. Have a big bottle of gel sanitizer or rubbing alcohol on your desk and keep mini versions inside your bag to stay healthy. Try The Honest Company Orange Hand Sanitizer Gel or Swan 70% Rubbing Alcohol.

Reusable water bottle

Keeping hydrated is important to combat sickness this winter. Bring a reusable water bottle, or better yet, a fruit infuser water bottle. The latter has a core wherein you can put sliced lemons, cucumber, orange, berries, or any other fruit to turn your water into a delicious and healthful drink.

Lip balm

Chapped lips are one of the painful drawbacks of cold weather. Prevent your lips from getting cracked by swiping on lip balm a few times a day. Mint balms, such as Chapstick Mint or Glominerals gloMint balm leave a cooling effect on lips, while flavored balms from Burt’s Bees and EOS will hydrate your lips with a bit of fruity sweetness.

Peppermint and lemon tea

Stash a few teabags in your desk for a warm and soothing drink. Peppermint and lemon teas are particularly good when you start to feel the tell-tale signs of a cold. Twinings has a Pure Peppermint variant as well as a Lemon and Ginger blend.
