Podiatrist, Patent Attorney, Software Engineer: A List Of The Highest Paying Jobs In America

Graduates who are about to enter the workforce are on the lookout for the best job opportunities in America. The good news is that there are current job openings in professions that pay very well.

LinkedIn recently released a salary report (via CNBC) indicating that there are hundreds of openings for jobs that pay well. If you’re planning to start your career this year, take note of the 20 highest-paying jobs in America.

Coming at number 20 is a podiatrist. This type of medical specialist reportedly earns a median base salary of $150,000, and there are over 70 jobs open in LinkedIn as of this writing. Those who are considering a career in this should have a four-year undergraduate pre-medical degree and must complete a four-year doctoral program in an accredited podiatric college.

Number 19 and 18 are a global marketing director and senior software engineering manager, respectively. Both earn a median base salary of $155,000, and there are over 200 job openings for the latter.

An anesthetist gets the number 17 spot on the list of highest-paying jobs in America. A certified nurse anesthetist can earn $156,000, and there are over 600 job openings for this position in the country.

A patent attorney gets the number 16 spot, while a product management director makes it to number 15 on the list. Both earn a median base salary of $160,000. These positions are followed closely by a tax director, who earns $161,000.

A director of engineering and a dentist earn $164,000 and $165,000, respectively. The latter position currently has over 2,000 openings on LinkedIn. Meanwhile, a staff software engineer gets $168,000.

The top ten spots on the list, starting at number 10, are a senior corporate counsel; a psychiatrist; a hospitalist; a physician; a pathologist; a medical doctor; a surgeon; an anesthesiologist; a radiologist; and a cardiologist.

Based on the study, professionals in the medical field continue to dominate as they’re in the top 10 highest paying jobs in America. The number 1 spot, which goes to a cardiologist, has over 150 openings. The salary? A cool $356,000 a year.
