The U.S. airline industry is growing at a slow but a stable rate. Although not all careers have added jobs lately, the overall numbers show improvement in the job situation.
The Transportation Department has announced last Thursday that passenger airlines have successfully added 383,610 full-time workers in March. This signified a raise of 1 percent from last year. This also means that the growth is in its fourth month.
United Airlines has proudly added 80,694 workers which was 2.1 percent down from before. Southwest and its AirTran Airways subsidiary have decreased with 1.4 percent.
Delta has added the highest number of jobs, followed by American, US Airways and JetBlue. Two small carriers, Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Air, have grown faster, and shown stronger increase than before.
Several regional airlines have increased their job additions, and these include SkyWest, Republic and Mesa. They fly smaller planes for the big airlines.
The government considers two part-time workers to be a single full-time employee.
The increase in airline industry jobs indicates strenghtening economy - people do travel! People spend money travelling and exploring new cities and investing in the tourism industry.
As the airlines industry jobs grow, more optimistic outlook on the economy is to follow.
