New York Yankees Trade Rumors 2014: Are the Yankees Planning to Acquire David Price, Cliff Lee?

The New Yankees are expected to become very aggressive on the trade front in hopes of acquiring another starting pitcher before the MLB trade deadline on July 31.
According to FanSided, the Yankees remain interested in acquiring either David Price or Cliff Lee before the deadline to bolster their rotation, which have been hit injuries this season.
Yankees ace pitcher CC Sabathia could be out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury, while Michael Pineda remains out with a back injury. Masahiro Tanaka recently went down with an elbow injury, while Ivan Nova was ruled out for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Price, who is 10-7 record this season with 173 strikeouts and a 3.06 ERA, is the best fit to the Yankees' struggling rotation, but the Price-to-Yankees trade remains unlikely at this point.
The Tampa Bay Rays are not expected to trade Price to their American League East rival, considering the fact that several teams are expressing interest in the left hander, including the Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Lee, on the other hand, is the more realistic target for the Yankees, who have been showing interest in acquiring the 35-year-old pitcher from the Philadelphia Phillies.
However, ESPN reported that Lee could veto a trade to the Yankees. Sources indicated that the Lee has a no-trade clause in his contract that allows him to block a trade to 20 teams, including the Yankees.
"Cliff Lee's deal also includes a limited no-trade clause that allows him to block trades to 20 teams. According to a baseball source, Lee has listed Atlanta, Cleveland, Houston, Miami, Minnesota, the New York Mets, San Diego, Tampa Bay and Washington as the nine teams he can be traded to without his consent," Crasnick wrote.
The Yankees are still expected to make a push at acquiring either of the two pitchers, or other starter who could be available heading into the trade deadline.
The Yankees acquired third baseman Chase Headley from the San Diego Padres in exchange for Yangervis Solarte along with minor league pitcher Rafael De Paula, but are still expected to be active on the trade front until the deadline passes.
