Amir Khan revealed that he will return to action on December 6 and he will look to score another impressive win in the hopes of finally getting his dream bout.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Khan, who is coming off a dominating win against Luis Collazo in May, said that he wants to look good in his next fight to get closer to landing a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"The Mayweather fight is within touching distance," Khan said. "It's very close. I had that good performance against Luis Collazo which put me in that position but obviously because I don't want a long wait until May, I want to get a fight in December and look good in that fight. I want to fight nice and comfortable and then go into a super-fight in May."
Khan, who is now under influential manager Al Haymon, said that the date of his next fight is already final, but they are still undecided on who to fight next. The 27-year-old Briton said that he is scheduled to talk to Haymon soon to discuss possible opponents.
"I'm looking at fighting on December 6. There's no opponent yet but I've got a meeting with my manager Al Haymon in the next couple of weeks," Khan said.
The Bolton, England native, who is planning to start training camp in August with Virgil Hunter, said that he is open to facing anyone, mentioning Devon Alexander and Robert Guerrero as possible options ahead of his meeting with Haymon.
"I'd like to fight whoever. There are a few big names out there. You've got Devon Alexander and Robert Guerrero out there but who knows. I'll fight anyone you put in front of me," Khan said. "At the moment, I'm waiting for names from Golden Boy Promotions and from Al Haymon and I'll just take it from there."
Khan, who holds a 29-3 record with 19 knockout wins, almost landed a bout against Mayweather earlier this year, but the reigning pound-for-pound king eventually decided to face Marcos Maidana on May 3.
Mayweather, who scored a majority decision against Maidana, is scheduled for a rematch against the Argentine on September 13 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.
