2 FBI agents shot near Ferguson, MO, on Wednesday morning are expected to make a speedy recovery after undergoing surgery for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital.
According to NBC, the two unidentified FBI agents shot near Ferguson were assisting local police effect an arrest at a barricaded property in St. Louis County when the incident occurred. The unidentified shooter had reportedly been hoping for a suicide by cop.
Reports indicate that the two FBI agents shot in Ferguson sustained wounds to their shoulder and leg respectively. They were reportedly taken to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where they have undergone surgery.
FBI spokeswoman Rebecca Wu has since come out to announce that the incident, which the FBI agents shot in Ferguson were responding to, has nothing to do with the ongoing protests over the Mike Brown verdict. The suspect is reported to have been accused of shooting at police officers on Tuesday thus his arrest. It is unclear if the suspect had been participating in the Mike Brown protests.
Local authorities have been struggling to deal with tumultuous protests since the Mike Brown verdict was announced earlier in the week. Gov. Jay Nixon has requested the presence of about 2,000 national guards to control the rioters. There have been protests in several other places across the country since the verdict was read. Some sources say the simultaneous protests occurred in up to 90 cities. The Grand Jury's decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson has also been criticized by many high profile names.
