Jayden Morrison Found Dead - South Carolina law enforcement officers, emergency staff and up to 100 volunteers, who have been looking for a missing 4-year-old from New York, ended the distressing search on Friday morning after the body of the boy was discovered in a retention pond.
Horry County Lieutenant Raul Denis told the press that Jayden Morrison was found dead in a pond which is located near his grandmother's home. The pond was reportedly being drained after the 3-day search for him, which included a helicopter, proved unsuccessful.
Jayden Morrison, who lives with his family in White Plains, New York, was reportedly visiting his grandmother when he went missing. Reports indicate that the family had only arrived in Jayden grandmother's Little River home near Myrtle Beach, when he went missing.
Tabatha Morrison, Jayden's mother, is reported to have left him in the care of his grandmother while she went out to do some shopping. Reports indicate that Carolyn Sumpter, his grandmother, was momentarily distracted before she realized that the little boy had gone missing and her front door was open.
The Coroner for Horry County Robert Edge revealed that an autopsy shows Jayden Morrison may have drowned shortly after he went missing on the eve of Dec. 24.
Investigators say he was new to the area and may have wandered into the pond, where he drowned.
Jayden Morrison's father Andre Morrison, who travelled from New York to be with the rest of the family soon after the boy was reported missing, said Jayden, who was autistic and didn't speak, is known to be a 'wanderer.' However, he was always kept in closed quarters so that he never walked away.
