Jihadi John Identity - Because the terrorist attacks helmed by the Islamic State has intensified, the reappearance of the black-masked ISIS militant who brutally beheaded several American hostages has recently ignited some controversies. The Western intelligence agencies have claimed to have information about his identity and location, but has "Jihadi John" really been identified?

The Jihadi John Identity controversy transpired after the Islamic State released another video on Tuesday. In the video, Yahoo! News reported that the black-masked ISIS militant demanded the Japanese government to pay a ransom in exchange for the lives of the two Japanese hostages.

"You now have 72 hours to pressure your government in making a wise decision, by paying the $200 million to save the lives of your citizens," the masked ISIS fighter bravely said. "Otherwise, this knife will become your nightmare."

The ransom demanded by Jihadi John matched the amount of money that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has pledged in humanitarian support to Middle East nations affected by the violence wreaked by ISIS terrorism. CNN revealed the deadline for the ransom will be on Friday at 12:50 a.m. ET.

Because of the threats, Japan's Chief Cabinet minister Yoshihide Suga declared Wednesday that their nation will do its best to have a dialogue with the Islamic State via a mediating country.

Since Jihadi John reappeared through the recently released video, the mystery behind his identity has raised several questions and confusion. In September, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) claimed that the agency has knowledge about Jihadi John's identity but refused to divulge it.

It was also reported last year that the FBI issued a $10 million reward for any details leading to the masked ISIS killer's capture, Newsweek learned. Then by mid-November, rumors spread that the notorious beheading master has been injured and killed in a US-led offensive.

Since he reappeared, it seemed that the Western intelligence agencies have still not quite known Jihadi John's identity and whereabouts. Canada Journal cited the wanted ISIS militant has been responsible for killing American journalists James Foley, Steven Sotloff, British aid workers David Haines, Alan Henning and American hostage Peter Kassig.

But has they really identified ISIS' Jihadi John? Though the US and British authorities believed that they have known who he is, they haven't publicly disclosed the information. Former CIA officer Aki Peritz said the agencies thought they have more to gain for keeping it a secret.

Due to the latest ISIS' life-and-death ultimatum, doubts over the infamous Jihadi John has increased. And since Western intelligence agencies have information about Jihadi John's identity, why does one of the Islamic State's most notorious executioner appear to still be at large?
