Jeremy Lin will be using his upcoming free-agency as an opportunity to find another starting gig somewhere else in hope of resurrecting his career after a rocky season with the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN Los Angeles writer Arash Markazi stressed in the latest edition of ESPN Lakers 3-points Blog.

Lin, who is in the midst of his worst season of his career since his breakout year with the New York Knicks three years ago, will hit the market at the end of the season as an unrestricted free-agent.

He's currently earning roughly $15M in the final year of the three-year, $25M deal he signed with the Houston Rockets in 2012. It is expected that his next contract won't crack the seven-figure level considering his performance the past three seasons. However, Markazi thinks Lin is not much concerned about getting more money.

According to the NBA analyst, Lin's priority this offseason would be finding a team that can give him another shot at starting and possibly getting his career back on track.

Lin might need to thread the eye of the needle for him to secure a starting job with an NBA team again, given his anemic showing this season along with the proliferation of quality playmakers in the league. Still, there's a chance Lin could start, especially for a rebuilding ball club like the New York Knicks, the Brooklyn Nets or perhaps the Philadelphia 76ers.

Lin is expected to exhaust all options to give him the best opportunity to succeed. But despite his forgettable stint with the Lakers, Markazi isn't ruling out Lin coming back next year with the purple-and-gold as a backup point guard.

"I think there's room for a backup point guard such as Lin on this team, but I'm sure he wants to try his hand at being a starter again and going to a team that will give him that opportunity. If he can't find that elsewhere or a better deal, I don't see why the Lakers wouldn't want him back as a reserve," Markazi stated.
