World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman said a specially-created belt will be given to winner of the super-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao on May 2 at MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sulaiman confirmed that belt made of precious emeralds and platinum will be presented to the victor of the ‘Fight of the Century.’

According to the WBC president, the magnitude and importance of the fight to the boxing worlds warrants the most respected alphabet boxing organization to give a special tribute to the winner of the Pacquiao-Mayweather, which he believed will also decide the best boxer in the era and spot in the list of top-10 pound-for-pound fighters in history.

“For this special recognition, I would like to have emeralds or platinum, but everything will be defined during the next weeks,” Sulaiman said in a statement posted to the WBC website via Los Angeles Times. “This is because of the magnitude of the event, which will be broadcast via TV networks globally.”

“It came in a good moment, and it will be an emotive event,” Sulaiman said. “Both are obviously putting their legacy at stake, to prove who's the best, satisfying an enormous created expectance. They are also competing to be considered one of the best 10 fighters in the entire boxing history.”

Sulaiman believed the timing of the showdown between the undefeated Mayweather and the eight-division world champ Pacquiao is just right on the money. However, he showed a little bit dismay after learning that majority of the tickets won’t have a chance to be sold in the public because the high-rollers already purchased some of them.

“It is a big shame that tickets are staying with wealthy people,” Sulaiman said. “However, boxing fans will have the opportunity to watch the fight via TV. Economic interests are involved with resulting high prices."
