Alongside Taraji P. Henson's SNL hosting stint is the question on how much the 44-year-old 'Empire' star is making now that the limelight is on her.
According to Q93.3, Taraji belongs to the list of 25 richest black actresses. Though she isn't on top of the list, 'Empire's' Cookie surely has a lot to offer since she's just trailing 'Scandal's' Kerry Washington's $8 million net worth at the 20th spot.
Henson's net worth is reportedly at $6 million, putting her at the 21st spot. However, after her 'SNL' gig, it's very likely that the singer-actress's wealth would flourish as more projects will land her doorstep.
Unbeknownst to many, Taraji P. Henson has been in the showbiz industry for quite some time now. She even revealed and sang in her 'SNL' monologue that she's been working in the entertainment biz for two decades now.
According to her biography, Taraji worked as a secretary at the Pentagon while moonlighting as a singing and dancing waitress on a dinner cruise ship after she graduated from Howard University in 1995.
In the late '90s, Henson snagged a role on NBC's "Homicide: Life On The Street" - it was her acting debut on the small screen.
Henson also managed to land a role on "ER" and more projects came in, including big screen deals. She got the supporting role in "Baby Boy" and "Hustle & Flow" in 2001 and 2004, respectively, according to Celebrity net Worth.
She even made a good impression when she sang the track "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" for "Hustle & Flow." Her rendition won her a Best Song Oscar that year.
Taraji P. Henson's net worth increased even more when she appeared in David Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," which secured her several Best Supporting Actress nominations for portraying the mother of the backward-aging protagonist.
Though Taraji got a lot more projects such as "The Karate Kid," "Larry Crowne," "Date Night," the hit comedy "Think Like A Man," and "Person of Interest," she hasn't become a hot staple among households yet until she landed the role of Cookie Lyons in Fox's record-breaking show "Empire."
