Hollywood's favorite couple is getting a divorce. The couple, who recently celebrated their 10-year union were seeing a therapist, hoping to keep their marriage. After months of keeping a united public front that all is well between them, actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have finally confirmed rumors that their relationship has hit a snag.
In a joint statement issued by the actors to the New York Daily News, they said, "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children, whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."
The two further added that this will be the only comment on their family's private affair and thanked the public for understanding the tough times they are going through.
TMZ reported that the divorce will not be immediate. The couple are meeting with business managers and mediator to settle and resolve their properties and custody issues before they can file.
According to an insider, the couple has ended their relationship amicably and will share joint guardianship of the three children, daughters Violet, 9, and Seraphina, 6, and son Samuel, 3.
A report from Inquisitr revealed that Garner, 43, and Affleck, 42, have been living apart for more than six months.
Speculations that the marriage encountered rocky waters emerged when moving vans were sighted at their home in Pacific Palisades on June 21. Workers were spotted coming out of the house lifting boxes and furniture. The couple tried their best to downplay the divorce rumors, stating simply that a renovation in their main house is in progress.
The couple met while filming "Pearl Harbor" in 2001 and fell head over heels for one another on the set of 2003's superhero movie, "Daredevil." They got married on an island beach in Turks and Caicos in 2005.
