Comedian Daniel Tosh is being criticized for a joke he made, that apparently was not funny, at least to a particular woman present at the show at the time.

Tosh is known for his hit series "Tosh.0" on Comedy Central. His jokes explore subjects that some would consider to be sensitive, while his fans find them hilarious. However, Tosh may have crossed the line in a recent live appearance at the Hollywood Laugh Factory.

"All the out of context misquotes aside, I'd like to sincerely apologize," Tosh wrote.

He then posted link to a blog entry written by the victimized woman's friend who recounted her altercation with Tosh at his comedy show on July 6. During Tosh's act, the woman felt provoked when Tosh made statement about rape jokes always being funny, and she yelled out, "Actually, rape jokes are never funny!" according to the Tumblr "Cookies for Breakfast."

The post is titled, "So a Girl Walks into a Comedy Club..." and apparently her friend's reaction triggered Tosh to comment about the audience member herself, stating that the comedian said, "Wouldn't it be funny if that girl got raped by like, five guys right now? Like right now? What if a bunch of guys just raped her..."

The woman who felt victimized ended up leaving with her friend and spoke to the manager about it who, according to the blog post, was "profusely apologetic."

Tosh tweeted: "The point I was making before I was heckled is there are awful things in the world but you can still make jokes about them," then added: "On a lighter note tonight's new episode of Tosh.0 will be featuring clowns."

On the side of the Tumblr poster's main page, the person wrote a headline "Thank you everyone!" and underneath included: "My friend and I wanted to thank everyone for there support and for getting this story out there. We just wanted everyone to know what Daniel Tosh had done and if you didn't agree then to stop following him. My friend (who wishes to remain anonymous) is very surprised to have gotten any form of an apology and doesn't wish to press any further charges against Daniel Tosh..."

Comedy Central has not made any comments.
