“Star Trek Beyond” is still a long way to go but filming is underway and it promises exciting things to come Trekkies’ way.

The third movie in the “Star Trek” rebooted franchise's showing will coincide with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of “Star Trek: The Original Series.”

Aside from previous cast update of Lydia Wilson and Idris Elba joining the Enterprise, new aliens have also been announced.

According to Movie Pilot, director Justin Lin has divulged that the aliens that the crew will encounter in “Star Trek Beyond” would all be “new and fresh.” He stated, “The Klingons, Romulans and other species are great, but it’s time to go further. It has been fun to focus on creating whole new worlds and species."

The third installment in the reboot begins with the Enterprise already on its five year mission, which will show viewers and Trekkies — another name for fans of the franchise — bolder adventures as well as a nostalgic feel of the original television series.

Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty (does “Beam me up, Scotty” ring a bell?), has guaranteed that “Star Trek Beyond” has a lot of surprises for its fans in relation to the franchise’s 50th anniversary.

He said, "It's going to be spectacular, but we're going to underpin that with some genuine 50th Anniversary ideas about what's happening in our world and the Star Trek world and try to make it a bit thoughtful too."

If you’re wondering how will “Star Trek Beyond” take on “The Original Series,” Movie Pilot reported that Zachary Quinto has dished that viewers might relive the banter between Spock and Bones as seen in “The Original Series.”

He said, "Those characters are so diametrically opposed that it’ll be nice to see them interacting."

In “The Original Series,” the best part was the witty ribbing that Spock and Bones exchanged with each other. They seemed to have nothing but disdain for each other but the truth was the two officers and friends of Captain Kirk have the highest regard for one another. Well, that’s something to look forward to as these two characters will be the source of humor in “Star Trek Beyond.”

Meanwhile, the movie has been promoting a contest for viewers who wanted to be included in “Star Trek Beyond,” get a chance to hit the red carpet on the film’s premiere or even win a Captain’s chair.

In their official Twitter account, a winner was announced, the lucky man, Adam, won a walk-in role in the movie.

Catch “Star Trek Beyond” when it hits theater on July 8, 2016.
