"The Last of Us 2" has been accidentally confirmed by Naughty Dog.

As reported by IGN, during a livestream focused on Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection, community strategist Eric Monacello, writer Josh Schrerr and Lead animator Eric Baldwin has indirectly confirmed a sequel to the hit video game.

"All the facial animation in the 'Uncharted' series was led up by Eric, here," he begins, "and [on] the first The Last of Us. Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?"

With those words, the entire gaming community went wild with the speculations regarding one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time.

According to Eurogamer, Baldwin couldnt do anything but just laugh regarding his gaffe. Meanwhile, Eric Monacelli stuck to the script and acted as if the event did not transpire.

However, it should be clear that there is a big possibility that they are referring to the first edition of "The Last of Us" since the game has since enjoyed a remastered edition and an expansion titled, "Left Behind."

But given that fact, this is not exactly the first time someone confirmed "The Last of Us 2." Nolan North, who voices David in the game previously said during a Question and Answer portion that "I know they're doing The Last of Us 2."

However, according to lead voice actor Troy Baker, he said that "I know nothing. I don't know if we're gonna do another one or not. If we do, then I trust Neil [Druckmann, creative director] and Bruce [Straley, game director] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told," Baker said during a panel.

But according to the Independent, whether there is indeed a "The Last of Us 2," it's very unlikely to be released anytime soon as developer Naughty Dog is concentrating currently for "Uncharted 4."
