"Twilight" fandom is alive once again after Stephenie Meyer's "Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined" book sparked online commotion. Meyer's latest book came amid the 10th anniversary of her bestselling vampire novels, "The Twilight Saga." "Twilight" will also re-release a special edition of the book together with the almost 440-pages exclusive bonus content.

Twihards definitely have a reason to celebrate with the newly-released "Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined" book. However, some might be sad because the new anniversary edition ditched the "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob" allegiance after Meyer reversed the gender roles of the novel's main characters. According to Yahoo! News, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lutner's infamous characters, Bella, Edward and Jacob are turned into Beau, Edythe and Julie, respectively.

"I wanted to do something fun for the 10th anniversary and the publisher wanted like a foreword and I thought, 'Well, maybe something more interesting,'" Meyer said on "Good Morning America."

"A question that had come up at a lot of signings and other things was about Bella being a damsel in distress," the 41-year-old bestselling author added, as per USA Today. "And it's always bothered me a little bit, because anyone surrounded by superheroes is going to be in a bit of distress. And so I thought if I switched it around a little bit to see how a boy does, and you know, it's about the same."

The "Twilight Saga" has made actors Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lutner famous and a household name. It also paved the way for a real-life romance between Stewart and Pattinson. It also turned into bestselling novels, which were translated in more than 50 languages and spawned five blockbuster movie adaptations, NPR noted.

Now, as Twihards commemorate the novels' 10th anniversary with "Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined" book, young adult readers will be treated with the whole boy-meets-girl love story with a twist. And since it's a big day for "Twilight" fans out there, everyone is quite emotional and unsure about the new gender-swapped book. So, they took to social media to express their reactions, E! News reported.

Last month, Meyer first announced that there would be bonus content packaged as a part of the anniversary edition during the Forever Twilight in Forks, Washington festival, Entertainment Weekly revealed. But the big question now is: Will "Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined" appease ardent fans who wanted "Midnight Sun?"

Meanwhile, "Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined" hardcover edition and e-book will be available for purchase Tuesday.
