In the days leading to the shocking and heartbreaking result of her custody battle, Leah Messer created good memories with her kids as proven by her week-old Twitter posts.

On Oct. 17, Messer was having a blast with her family and she even took to Twitter to share how she enjoyed the weekend with them at the time.

"We are having a fun filled weekend together I. ENJOYING each other as a family. At the end of the day that's what matters most! #memories," the "Teen Mom 2" star wrote

Prior which she also shared to her millions of followers her joy as a mom to be with her kids. "There's nothing like actually having actual QUALITY time with my girls, for once. We aren't running around to apts but INSTEAD ..," she tweeted on the same day.

Unbeknownst to the reality star, her days with her kids are numbered. Just this Thursday, it was revealed by OK! that Messer lost her custody battle with ex-husband Corey Simms over their twin daughters, Ali and Aleeah.

The entertainment and gossip site noted that the  decision came amid Leah's struggle with painkiller abuse which was exposed to the public back in July 2014.

Simms, who became aware of Leah's addiction and her behavior on the show, took to himself to file for full custody over their girls.

Though the former couple agreed in December last year to share custody over their daughters, they didn't get along most of the time. Add to this the incident wherein the troubled Messer spanked Aleeah in one of the episodes of "Teen Mom 2."

Simms also claimed that Leah Messer has been a very problematic mom to the girls by dropping them off to school late, among other things.

The drug addiction surely took a toll on Messer such that she had to leave her kids and enter rehab. And though she ended her rehab stint in June, the repercussions of her troubling tendencies already made if hard for her to maintain primary custody of her kids with Corey.

Following the heartbreaking news, Dr. Drew, who served as moderator on the MTV reality show's reunion specials, spoke out on how he things Leah is doing right now.

"I know it's gonna be devastating for Leah. Leah loves her children. She is a dedicated mother. people are also wondering how she's doing and if you saw the last reunion show which is the last time I had contact with her, I believed she was making some progress," Dr. Drew was quoted as saying by RadarOnline

Dr. Drew also said that he saw the sign that Messer was doing better during the latest reunion show of the series. "One of the signs I noticed was that the people around her -- like her ex-husband and his new wife -- were starting to really come down on her. When that starts to happen, that's a sign to me that the identified patient is getting better," he said.

Finally, Dr. Drew expressed that he is really hoping that the "Teen Mom 2" star is doing better amid the "terribly painful and stressful time" that she has now, ET Online has learned.
