Wii U will finally have "Minecraft" — at least, that was what many thought when the European games rating board PEGI reportedly leaked a rating for the phenomenal game. A lot of gamers had been expecting its announcement at the Nintendo Direct, but it did not happen.

The "Minecraft" PEGI rating went missing. In less than a week, the said listing was removed from the board rating's site, according to the report of Nintendolife.

A sample of the leak content can be viewed here.

Gamers consider listings from classification boards as a reliable source in terms of spotting the release of upcoming video games. With the recent event, what could have possibly happened?

Many are asking if it was an error made. According to Wired, the mistake was unlikely considering that PEGI is an official body, and they only list the games that were submitted for certification.

There are others who believe that maybe the classification has been released a little earlier than expected, so this news doesn't necessarily its bad, as per Gaming Bolt.

In consonant with the statement above, it was additionally reported that the rating published earlier was a mistake, hence, the withdrawal. The incident could imply that the game may be coming, but not right away.

That being said, gamers believe that the existence of "Minecraft" in Wii U could no longer be the question, rather, when will it be released? The aforementioned theories undeniably presented their points, but the cancellation of "Minecraft" could not be ruled out either.

"Minecraft" is a sandbox video game developed by Mojang. Despite being described as an open world game with no specific goals to accomplish, the game has an achievement system.

By default, "Minecraft's" gameplay is first person, but players have the option to play it with third person set up. The game centers around breaking and placing blocks.

The full version of the game was released in 2011 for both Android and iOS.

The game was released as an Xbox Live Arcade game in 2012 for Xbox 360. In 2013, it was released in PlayStation 3 and in 2014, it hit the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

On the same year, it was also released on PlayStation Vita and Windows Phone version. "Minecraft" seemed to have invaded most of the platforms, so imagine the excitement Wii U owners have when the news leaked.

Wired reportedly contacted Nintendo for comment, but the company hasn't responded yet.
