"The Soup" has been making your tummies ache with laughter for 22 long years. Unfortunately, the E! comedy show hosted by Joel McHale will finally take a bow.

"The Soup," a hilarious comedy TV series from E!, will have its final episode next month, Dec. 18.

EVP of Programming and Development for E!, Jeff Olde, said, "We are incredibly proud of the long-running success of "The Soup," and added that the show has provided viewers with "countless laughs and unforgettable episodes" and they are thankful as well to the team's spunky wit and ingenious approach with its weekly episode.

"Joel took the show to new heights for more than a decade, and his irreverent humor and unique brand of comedy as captured so perfectly on 'The Soup' will be missed."

According to E! News, "The Soup" started out as "Talk Soup" from 1991 up to 1995 and was hosted by Greg Kinnear. From 1995-1999, John Henson took over followed by Hal Sparks in 1999-2000. From 2001-2002, Aisha Tyler provided the laughs and finally in 2004, after a two-year break, Joel McHale grabbed the spotlight and spent 12 years of entertaining viewers.

"The Soup" has provided its fanbase with influential clips that has ridiculed, skewered and otherwise mocked ludicrous moments in pop culture and TV following a 22-season run. In addition, Joel McHale's withering one-liners, in which the Kardashians were not able to escape from, breathe new life into the franchise.

In a statement issued to Entertainment Weekly, "The Soup" host Joel McHale said: “I loved doing "The Soup" for all of these years (86 to be exact) but am excited to solely focus on my acting career now. Thanks to all who watched and thanks to Kim Kardashian’s ass for all that it’s done for me and my family.”

The "Community" alum inked a deal to host "The Soup" last year until 2016. He has also been a common fixture at events as a host. He helmed the Spirit Awards, ESPY and White House Correspondents' Dinner. His next project will be a guest appearance as Tad O'Malley on Fox's "The X-Files" reboot.

Meanwhile, celebrities who appeared on "The Soup" included Norman Reedus, Tyra Banks, Jon Cryer, Joe Jonas, Joe Manganiello, Larry King, Anderson Cooper, Martha Stewart and Jack Black among others.

"The Soup" was also nominated for Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program at last year's Emmy Awards, as per TV Guide.
