"Game of Thrones" Season 6 poster of Kit Harington as Jon Snow caused quite a stir on Twitter as fans reacted to this unexpected surprise that HBO teased. Is he truly alive and not deader than dead?

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 will not be back on the air until April, but as early as now fans are raring to pry out more details from the bombshell that the studio has dropped On Nov. 23, Monday, in its official Twitter account.

The tweet had the caption "APRIL. #GoTSeason6 #GameOfThrones." And the photo that accompanied it was that of Kit Harington's famous Winterfell character, Jon Snow, whose face was covered in blood and wearing a dark fur. He was last seen in the finale episode of "Game of Thrones" Season 5 lying in the snow beneath his own pool of blood after being stabbed by his own brothers of the Night's Watch who also left him for dead.

Ever since "Game of Thrones" Season 5 wrapped up a few months ago, a debate has erupted between fans as to the fate of whether Ned Stark's eldest son has truly left the show. Some even came up with theories which suggested that Jon Snow will be raised from the dead by Melissandre or that he will be reborn because he is half Targaryen as Movie Pilot pointed out that his parents were Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.

However, Kit Harington told Entertainment Weekly that he's not coming back for "Game of Thrones" Season 6. The show's producers and other HBO insiders have also backed up his statement and reiterated that Jon Snow is very dead.

Furthermore, Us Weekly has learned that back in September, Kit Harington seemed to give vague clues that the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch is pretty much alive. The 28-year-old actor said at that time. "I had to pass on amazing parts because I was attached to Game of Thrones. So the show is like a double-edged sword to me: I owe a lot to it, but at the same time it has almost completely drained me."

These statements from Kit Harington and of HBO posting a teaser poster on Twitter massively created confusion among the fans. Is Jon Snow truly alive?

One Twitter follower said, "What a time for Jon Snow to be alive," as another said, "Jon Snow really can't be dead, he has so much to learn. After all, Jon Snow knows nothing." This comment from another fan which stated, "You can't tease the first official poster and have Jon Snow on it if he's dead" probably mirrored what majority of "Game of Thrones" Season 6 followers must have been thinking about the first teaser coming from HBO, as per BuddyTV.

How do you feel about the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 poster of Kit Harington's character Jon Snow? Do you think he's alive? Sound off below.
