What's good to eat during a hot sunny day? An ice cream cone or a bowl? Sounds good. But this recent food recall announcement may prick your tongue. Your ice cream may contain wood splinters!
When thinking of ice cream for dessert tonight, maybe check the news for some food recall announcements. Recently, a voluntary food recall has been issued because of the possible presence of foreign materials in the food item. The foreign material in question? Wood splinters.
The H-E-B grocery chain has issued a recall on its popular store-brand ice cream products after reports concluded that the ice cream may be contaminated with tiny pieces of wood. The San Antonio, Texas based chain has decided to announce that its Creamy Creations Caramel Pecan Turtle Ice Cream has been affected by this recall.
"In the abundance of caution, H-E-B is issuing a voluntary recall for H-E-B Creamy Creations Caramel Pecan Turtle Ice Cream due to the possible presence of wood pieces in the product," the company announced on Thursday. There has been no reports of injuries or illnesses caused by the product as of today, according to H-E-B.
Consumers who have purchased the product can return the ice cream for a full refund. It is wise to check the label and description first before anything else. The description was provided online by the United States Food and Drug Administration for consumers to check. A copy is posted below:
