Zayn Malik said that his solo album 'Mind of Mine' release date coinciding with former band One Direction's anniversary is a sign, as reported by MTV UK

As any 'Directioner' would know, 25th March is the day that thousands of girls from all over the globe mourned Malik's departure from the group. It was the day when five became four. Ever since Malik's revelation of his album release date, fans have speculated that maybe the 23-year-old who now goes by the name ZAYN, is trying to help make the day become a happy more than a dark one.

During a radio interview with Zach and the Gang, Malik revealed that it's all just a big coincidence. "It wasn't planned that way. It just seems to coincide with the iTunes launch and everything. Maybe it's a sign," he stated.

Whatever the meaning of the sign is, 25th March is guaranteed to be another historic day for both ZAYN and One Directions fans.

Malik's debut track 'Pillowtalk' has gone to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, beating his former mates from One Direction, according to a report by Independent. The song has sold 267,000 downloads and has been streamed 22.3 million times in its first week. The music video starts Gigi Hadid, Malik's girlfriend, confirming their relationship during the same interview with Zach and the Gang.

In an article by Christopher R. Weingarten of the Rolling Stone, 'Pillowtalk' was addressed as a song that tries way too hard to be edgy. Weingarten thinks that the song is 'annoyingly current'. Although he thinks that Malik is only strutting some 'Bieber-esque' moves by using a curse word for the chorus of his song, this tune is still going to be important for the future of R&B. He also made a comparison between Malik and artists like Miguel and Frank Ocean.
