Two men were fined £630 each after they confessed to assault at a fight in a McDonald's joint in Broxden in Perth and Kinross at around 4 a.m on Feb 15 last year.

Calum Graham and Allan Gilruth, both 25 years old, had been coming from a wedding where they had been playing bagpipes and one was performing, according to a report by The Courier.

They walked into the McDonald's outlet wearing Highland dress and playing their bagpipes. The customers were not happy about the noise at the time of night and so asked the duo to turn it down.

A heated argument ensued and both Graham and Gilruth threw punches at other customers. They customers later said that one of them, who engaged in a conversation with them before the fight, looked like he was under the influence of alcohol.

Two men got injured during the brawl, and the police were called although the injuries were not serious.

Gilruth, a mechanic from Pitlochry, admitted to assaulting Craig Menzies during the incident in February of last year at Broxden in Perth. He confessed to punching him on the head, causing his victim to fall and strike his head on a seat.

Graham, a plumber also from Pitlochry, admitted that he had attacked Euan Fuller by punching him on the head during the same incident.

There was another charged against Graham of assaulting a member of the staff that was dropped.

Solicitor Billy Somerville, who was defending the duo, explained that the men had been in full Highland dress because they had been at a wedding before, and one of them had been performing bagpipes at the wedding.

He said they had pulled into the McDonald's outlet to get some food had taken the bagpipes in to play melodies as they ordered for something to eat.

Sheriff Gillian Wade said: "The injuries were minor, but they could have been more serious as one man hit his head as he fell to the ground. It is important this matter is put behind you and is not hanging over you for any period of time.

"I consider your behavior to be broadly the same so you will both be fined £630."
