Are you currently browsing through your closet looking for the best suit jacket to wear to your first interview or first day at work? Are you unsure if it fits well and makes you look professional enough to be believed and trusted? According to Business Insider, there is one super-easy trick that can help you find out if the suit jacket you're wearing is not right for you.

A suit jacket, as Yahoo has it, is supposed to fit your body but not too loose. It's almost impossible to buy a suit from any retail store, off the rack, and have it perfectly fit you. Which is why most men, if they can afford it, would rather have their suits tailored for every occasion. Suits are tailored to fit the body of a man plus the arms, sleeves, legs, tail and waist. Some men are smart enough to purchase a suit jacket from a retail outlet and have a tailor magically cut it into his own body shape. But if you're looking for a clean and sharp suit that is friendly to your wallet, all you need to know is find out if it's too big for you (that is after you find out that you liked the color, the feel and the design or cut).

Remember that the only place a suit can't be modified is the shoulders. If the suit jacket doesn't fit the shoulders properly, it means it does not fit you. A suit jacket's shoulder should not extend farther than your natural shoulder. How do you know for sure?

Lean on it. Lean with your arm against the wall. If the jacket's shoulder hits the wall first, then that's not the suit for you.

Unfortunately, your favorite neighborhood tailor won't be able to magically cut it for you. Save your money and move on to the next choice - even though it was the best deal you ever saw.

Investing on the right suit jacket goes a long way into looking professional. It doesn't matter if you're going to wear it at work, at meetings or during events. A perfectly fit suit jacket definitely makes a man, a professional looking man.
