The recent Netflix update revealed that the studio has launched HDR streaming support for its subscription service. The plan was announced earlier this year.

Engadget reported that the streaming service has inconspicuously rolled out support for high-dynamic range (HDR) video. Netflix has not made an official announcement yet but an executive confirmed the feature earlier this week.

"As of mid-March, we have been providing both Dolby Vision and HDR10 streams to supported TVs, giving Netflix members an even more visually stunning experience," a representative for the company told the publication. "'Marco Polo' season 1 is available now, with more titles -- including Marvel's Daredevil -- coming soon."

According to Flat Panels HD, HDR improves picture quality through enhancement of the dynamic range. It also uses a wider color gamut.

It was noted that a Netflix update usually takes a few weeks for everyone to be able to use the new feature. Also, users may need to update their Netflix app as a requirement.

The "Marco Polo" season 2 release date has been confirmed for Jun. 2016. The streaming service is said to make Marvel's "Daredevil" available in HDR sometime this year.

Netflix subscribers who want to stream in HDR will need a TV that supports both the feature as well as the streaming service. LG, Samsung, Sharp and Sony are the brands that reportedly support HDR, according to the studio's website.

A 4 Screen Netflix plan is also required as well as a high speed Internet connection (25 Mbps or higher) to stream at Ultra HD 4K resolution. Users can still enjoy the feature at lower resolutions such as 1080p.

It was previously reported that Netflix has updated its monthly price for longtime subscribers. Next month, subscribers can expect a higher monthly bill for the subscription. The company has stated that it will be sending an email to affected customers to let them know about the upcoming increase.
