The best part of your work day can boost your career. Lunch is the only time of day that most workers, blue-collared or white-collared, look forward to. However, these days, most workers opt to stay in their offices while working to get work done or save some money by eating their homemade sandwich. There is nothing wrong with those reasons but according to Steven Lerner, getting out of the office for lunch can be the best work decision you'll ever make for your own career.

Here are the reasons why, according to APlus:

1. Improved Creativity

Stepping out of the office and going to a new place is a great way to inspire imagination. Writer's block, artist block, whatever kind of creative block you might be suffering from, going out for lunch can help.

2. It's good for business

It boosts your productivity and you can write that lunch off your taxes as a business expense, too.

3. FOLO (fear of lunching out)

Afraid you might miss something while you're away from your office? Afraid you might find heaps of paperwork when you get back or miss that very important phone call? To remain productive and creative, get out of your normal routine of having lunch at your desk and step out of the office to recharge. You'll get more work done after feeling refreshed.

4. Great way to hang out with your co-workers

Spending some casual time with your fellow workers is great for having fun and getting to know each other. It also improves working relationships better.

5. It's good for your health

It's literally already a kind of exercise for you. Sitting at your desk the whole day isn't great. So walking to that new diner at the corner is a good way to stretch your legs.

6. It's the best networking opportunity

You can use lunch time to enjoy great food and hand out some business cards.

7. Food

Add some excitement in your life by enjoying hot and fresh food during lunch at a local restaurant such as TGI Fridays. Because the brown paper bag doesn't cut it sometimes.
