Under Armour Faces Competition, Consumers Not Thrilled With New Brand Named ‘Uncle Martian’?

It appears that Under Armour has a new competition in the form of "Uncle Martian." Also, as the brand emerges online, skepticism and scrutiny rises owing to the fact that there are crucial elements that have similarities.
According to The New York Times, "Under Armour is a brand worn by the likes of the New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, the model Gisele Bündchen, has a savvy new competitor in one of its hottest markets, China."
Even though the logos are almost the same, there are still similarities in the setup and placement of the letters. Still, the obvious resemblance has caused a sensation online in China, where the brand's flashy rollout this week has been met with cynicism by increasingly savvy consumers, who appear to be tired of their country's being associated with cheap copycat products, as noted by the same post.
Also, since the scrutiny has risen regarding the new competitor of Under Armour, one of its executives, Huang Canlong, stated their plans regarding the brand and its future plans. According to the executive, the brand is forecast to showcase "comfort, excellence and innovation, as well as aim to belong to the "high-profile" brand that features "high standards."
Luren MJC stated, "The Chinese have lost face, and don't blame people when they say they look down upon domestic brands", gave other criticism. As for Under Armour, it aims on making legal sanctions and are willing to pursue legal options to protect their trademark and legacy.
Under Armour is not spared because infringement and other firm issues are not uncommon in the business world. Even Google was sued by writers regarding rights and trademarks, reports Jobs & Hire.
The threat that Under Armour is presently facing is not a big one nor strong enough to decapitate the company because even the consumers are not amused with the similarity that the brand Uncle Martian has with Under Armour.
