The Verizon strike resulted from workers in pursuit for the fiber Optic investigation. Also, the rift between Verizon and the union escalates as Verizon demands justice for sabotage and impeding company's operations, a claim that the union workers strongly deny.

Daily News conveyed, "A rash of vandalism across Verizon cable and phone lines that has swept through nine states during a three-week strike involving 36,000 workers hit the Bronx and about two hundred customers briefly lost phone, data and internet service Tuesday at around 2 a.m. when someone cut cables attached to a fiber optic hub on E. 196th St. and Hobart Ave. in Pelham Bay."

Verizon spokesman Richard Young attributed the vandalism to the strikers and stated, "It was a deliberate act of sabotage in which 200 customers were deprived of their ability to call friends or family or 911. We have no idea who's doing this, but it impacts customers to a point where they could switch to our competitors, and that could affect our employment numbers down the line. In short, this is reckless, dangerous, short-sighted and dumb."

The figures reveal that there are 84 incidents in various cities and in the case of New Jersey, it has 17 cases while 12 were noted in Pennsylvania. However, despite the claims of Verizon, the union rebutted and the spokeswoman for the Communication Workers of America strongly denied any worker involvement and further said, "There's no reason why a Verizon worker would do that and replacement workers just aren't following basic safety protocols. It's not their fault. They're minimally trained."

Verizon is not the only company that has faced massive operational issues because other firms and organizations have experienced it as well. However, the destruction of the cables and sabotage are leading others to believe that it is partly due to the Verizon strike that the workers have begun. The New York Post also reported that even the cops are considering the options that the severed Verizon cables could be linked to the strike.

Despite the claims on both sides, the Verizon strike ordeal has affected not only the company but its entire workforce as well. It remains uncertain on how the two sectors would end the skirmish in the coming days and on whether concord would be attained by both sides.
