Snapchat is currently facing backlash for its filters. Apparently, the app has been "whitewashing" users' faces.

Mashable reported that users of the app have noticed how several of the face-altering Snapchat filters "whitewash." The given examples are the flower crown filter and the "beautifying" filter.

Apparently, both Snapchat filters appear to lighten the user's skin and eyes. It was also said to contour the face by making the chin and nose appear smaller. Snapchat users took to Twitter to voice out their sentiments regarding the app.

"Snapchat, I am very disturbed by the fact that your 'beautification' filters make my skin lighter, and my nose and jaw smaller," Twitter user Allegra Clark posted. "Just saying."

"Was already upset @ Snapchat for most it's filters/lenses being whitewashing and how there's that one that just subtly shrinks your nose," User A.J. Chaudhry tweeted.

"@Snapchat hello yes can u stop 1) whitewashing my skin 2) slimming my face and 3) making my eyes bigger w your filters thx," Stephanie Li wrote in another tweet.

According to BBC, several users of the Snapchat filters have criticized the "whitewashing" as offensive. Some even thought that the flower crown was used to distract from the whitening feature of the filter.

Last April, the company was also slammed for another Snapchat filter. Users called the Bob Marley filter of "digital blackface."

The social media company clarified that the Snapchat filter "gives people a new way to share their appreciation for Bob Marley and his music." They have not given an official announcement on the current "whitewashing" issue.

Meanwhile, Engadget reported that NASA has shared what a typical day in the International Space Station (ISS) is like on Snapchat. The space agency teamed up with the video-sharing app to celebrate the ISS' 100,000th orbit around the planet.

Expedition 47 commander Tim Kopra was the host of the series. Short videos showed him eating a tortilla, rolling around in mid-air as well as discussing their experiments.
