Comcast Offers Netflix Direct Access On Cable Box Subscribers

Comcast and Netflix are making it better for viewers. Now, Comcast is going farther in terms of service. The nation's number one pay TV operator is planning to expand its service to offer direct access to Netflix for their valued subscribers.

If you are subscribed to Comcast's boradband-based X1 set-top box and love watching shows like "Orange is the New Black", then this could be for you.

Previously, Comcast refused Netflix as an added service because of competitive reasons, citing that third party providers with internet video services is not part of their plan. However, according to reports, Comcast and Netflix have officially reached an agreement to incorporate the streaming service into its X1 category.

X1 provides seamless access to content and it will become a platform for both companies. "We have much work to do before the service will be available to consumers later this year. We'll provide more details at that time," the two companies said in a joint statement first reported by Recode.

The official announcement details that Comcast will include Netflix's app on its set top box. Right now, Netflix subscribers must use a separate device like Google Chromecast to enjoy Netflix's services.

Currently, Netflix has similar deals with other cable operators in the United States and huge companies around the world. But the deal made with Comcast will be bigger with because there is an advantage for customers who sign up for Netflix from their X1 Box.

Before, Comcast and Netflix have always clashed in trying to gain a wide audience but now that both companies have found a neutral and common ground, Comcast will gain more subscribers in the process.

In addition, Netflix also announced a multi year content licensing deal with The CW to include shows like "The 100," "Arrow" and "The Flash." So that is something to look forward to for Comcast subscriber.s.
