The "Star Wars: Rogue One" trailer 2 release date may unveil a 3-minute video. If such is the case, it would definitely give fans more hints of what to expect from the spin-off's plot.

It is expected that the highly-anticipated "Star Wars: Rogue One" trailer 2 release date is slated for Jul. 15. The video will be accompanied by an hour-long "Secret of the Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey" special on ABC.

"Star Wars: Rogue One" is said to see the return of Darth Vader for the first time since "Return of the Jedi" and a brief appearance in "Revenge of the Sith." Although the Sith Lord's role in the spin-off is reportedly just a cameo, his appearance is expected to have a major impact on the movie's story.

Comicbook.com reported that the "Star Wars: Rogue One" trailer 2 would be "3-minutes long." It was noted that this would make the new teaser a minute longer than the first video that debuted in April.

The "Star Wars" spin-off is directed by Gareth Edwards, who previously worked on "Godzilla." The cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, Jiang Wen, Ben Mendelsohn and Mads Mikkelson.

According to The Guardian, "Star Wars: Rogue One" would see iconic actor James Earl Jones reprise his role as Darth Vader. Emperor Palpatine's right-hand man would be a shadowy background figure whose position in the Imperial hierarchy is yet to be fully known.

Moreover, Ben Mendelsohn's character, Director Orson Krennic, is said to be under the control of Darth Vader. Apparently, his job would be to take down the Rebel Alliance with an army of Deathtroopers.

It was also noted that the back story of Jyn Erso, Felicity Jones' character, seems to be gleaned from "Suicide Squad." Demi-Jedis and droids will also play a vital role in "Rogue One." Whitaker's character, Saw Gerrera, will be leading a band of Rebel extremists.
